Missing From Home Training

Training courses for foster carers

Looked After children are particularly vulnerable because of their home background and care experiences, which can lead  them to being more vulnerable to exploitation and harm if they are absent from their placement without agreement or knowledge.

The care provided should minimise the risk that children will go missing and ensure that children feel secure enough to stay in their foster home. Children who return from being missing should be responded to positively. This relies largely on the skills of foster carers  and the support provided by the agency  staff to ensure this happens. It is therefore essential that carers  act in line with these procedures if a child or young person goes missing

This 1 day course meets the requirements of the Training, Support and Development Standards for foster care: 1.4, 2.1, 2.2, 2.4, 3.5, 4.1, 4.2, 4.4, 4.5, 6.1, 6.2, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4
